Katherine (Katie) Brown a first-year doctoral student at Tennessee Technological University (TTU) in Computer Science studying machine learning and its applications in healthcare. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Computer Science, concentration in Data Science, in May 2018 from TTU. She is also studying upper-divison mathematics in the pursuit of beginning a Master’s degree in Mathematics, also from TTU.
She spends her spare time with her family and dogs, playing video and board games, and reading, and most importantly, being involved in on-and-off campus Christian ministries.

Currently, I work in the Knowledge Discovery Lab at Tennessee Technological University. My primary research advisor is Dr. Doug Talbert. We investigate and develop advanced machine learning methods for use in genomic data to further development of computer-aided precision medicine.
My research interests are as follows:
